Continuing our legacy of quality in the practice of nursing at Southwest General, we are pleased to offer a Nurse Technician program every summer for a select group of qualified nursing students. The goal of this special program is to come along side nursing students to provide a learning opportunity to help shape personal integrity, patient-centered decision making, evidence-based practice and quality care.
Nursing Technicians perform the essential functions of our Patient Care Assistant (PCA) job description and additional activities pending successful validation of competency. Additional program offerings include the opportunity for participants to shadow a nurse once per month in an area of potential interest. This program has been extremely successful for our internal nursing students and external applicants seeking to learn and grow at Southwest. Positions are typically posted for application in late March, early April, of each year.
