LEAD PHLEBOTOMIST SPECIMEN ACCESSIONING

Specimen Accessioning serves our inpatient population of all ages as well as local nursing homes. Phlebotomy is a fast-paced, exciting career that greatly impacts the organization and patient population. We welcome new phlebotomists and provide training for a successful future in healthcare. HOURS:
Full-time, 2nd shift. 3:00PM-11:30PM, Monday through Friday. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
In addition to established phlebotomy job requirements, the Lead Phlebotomist works under the guidance of the coordinator to monitor and maintain daily operations. The lead position requires the ability to independently assess operational and workflow situations and respond accordingly to provide continuous quality patient care. Oversee specimen collection and dispatch as needed. Monitor staffing and train new associates.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Successfully completed Phlebotomy courses and training/externship required.
Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Required length of experience:
Three (3) years recent experience in performing phlebotomy required.
Demonstration of prior mentoring experience preferred.
Proven leadership, communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Must be able to recognize problems, help identify the cause, and work with coordinator to determine solutions.
Exceptional customer service skills essential to success.
Understanding and supporting the mission and vision of the laboratory.
Consistent demonstration of SWGHC Standards of Performance Proficient phlebotomy skills.

Required licensure, certification, and/or registry:
Phlebotomy certification or medical assisting certification required.  
Valid driver’s license with less than 6 points required.
Proof of auto insurance required.
