ATHLETIC TRAINERS

Committed to Athletic Excellence in our Communities. Southwest General Sports Medicine provides expert care and attention to students at many local schools, including:

  • Berea - Midpark High School
  • Columbia High School
  • Olmsted Falls High School
  • Strongsville High School
  • Middleburg Heights Junior High School

A certified athletic trainer from Southwest General is assigned to each school and is on site to help with practices and games and to foster cooperation among coaches, physicians, physical therapists and others involved in helping student athletes.

If an athletic injury requires evaluation, Southwest General Sports Medicine physicians assure that the athlete is seen quickly and monitor his or her condition to help coaches and trainers make decisions about the athlete’s participation in practices and games. Sports Medicine trainers and physicians also are available to speak with parents who are encouraged to call to discuss their athlete’s training or medical condition.

HOURS:
Full-time, varied day and evening shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The athletic trainer is responsible for delivering quality patient care and providing excellent customer service. The staff Athletic Trainer, within the scope of their license, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide direct patient/athlete care in the high school or clinic setting, as well as participating in educational programs to the community or high school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college.

Required length of experience:
Prior work experience not required.   

Required licensure, certification, and/or registry:
Currently certified by National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA)

Current license by the Ohio State Board of Athletic Trainers

CPR, BLS, ACLS required.
