Position summary:
-
Provides medical and administrative support to pain management providers in the delivery of quality, and efficient care for both office visits and hospital procedures. The incumbent will: Assist the physician during office procedures and physical examinations, maintain patient histories and record pertinent patient information in the electronic medical records system. The medical assistant is responsible for a combination of strong organizational and communication skills with patients, family members, physicians, health center personnel and co-workers. The medical assistant will answer and return telephone calls as well as support the front desk, and other administrative activities. Will provide "excellent" patient care while performing all duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
-
Graduate from a medical assisting program or comparable education and training (such as phlebotomy course, microbiology course).

Required length and type of experience:-
One (1) to two (2) years experience working as a medical assistant following graduation of a medical assistant program.

Five (5) or more years of clinical experience as a medical assistant in a physicians office will be considered in lieu of medical assistant certificate.

Necessary clinical skills include: Taking vital signs, in-office patient testing, and sterile technique.

Preferred office skills include: electronic medical record, patient registration, scheduling and precertification of procedures and tests.

A new medical assistant graduate may be considered in some instances.

Required licensure, certification or registry:-
Completion of a medical assistant program/or as noted above.
