Facilities Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Specialist will assist the Maintenance Coordinator as needed. Following the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator the Facilities specialist will assist with directing the interior and exterior contractors such as the night cleaning, outside grounds, HVAC repair and lawn care.   Facilities specialist will assist in the inspecting of systems, performing preventative maintenance on all building equipment, pool pumps and fitness equipment as directed.  Will work with the Coordinator to assure that problems are quickly corrected, work orders are completed.  The position will have the responsibility of Safety Captain, which includes but not limited to, training safety for employees, checking all O2 tanks, first aid kits, AED, first responder bag etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires experience working in the maintenance/building operations preferably in aquatics or fitness center.  Must possess computer knowledge and customer service skills. 

Education: This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Trade school background in building maintenance or related field required.  Mechanical and building systems knowledge required.

Vocational training in mechanics, electricity, carpentry, and hydraulics preferred.

 Required Length and Type of Experience:

§   A minimum two years in building maintenance experience required, preferably in a health and fitness environment is requested.

§   Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing and electrical work preferred.

§   Knowledge of computer systems required.

§   Knowledge of pool operations is beneficial. 

§   The person must also possess solid communication, customer service and organizational skills.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Assists the Maintenance Coordinator in the maintenance of Lap pool, Therapy pool, Saunas, Steam Rooms and Spas; operating all pools according to state and industry standards and regulations.  Immediately acts to correct any problems which might affect the safety of participants.

·         Conducts fitness equipment preventative maintenance and repaired as directed.  Assures that all fitness equipment is operating and functioning appropriately.

·         Conducts preventative building and equipment maintenance according to required schedules.

·         Works in conjunction with LifeWorks area leaders to assure facility & equipment safety standards are maintained. Takes immediate action to correct any safety issues.

·         Works with Maintenance Coordinator to assure that parts are ordered and repairs are done in a timely manner.

·         Proactive in facility care to assure that all maintenance, cleaning and equipment are in excellent condition.

·         Checks AEDs, first responder bag, 02 tanks, and first aid kit to assure that there is nothing expired and everything is in good working conditioning.  Uses proper check off sheets to document.  Does this regularly and consistently.

·         Assures that proper communication of any equipment malfunctions, closings of areas such as steam room/sauna/hot tub are thorough and provided to staff, MODs and to the membership in a timely fashion.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Southwest General Health Center with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our Standards of Performance each and every day.
