MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL WORKER

Oakview is a locked inpatient behavioral health unit with 20 beds that offers outstanding mental health services. They hire a variety of nurses, including new grads. Treatment provided by our Oakview staff includes crisis intervention, evaluations of disturbed behaviors/thoughts/mental status, stabilization of deteriorating psychosocial function, protection from self-harm, medication support, and leading groups.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Social Worker provides psychosocial assessments, histories and interventions for each hospitalized mental health patient. Participates with the physician, nurses and other professional members of the team in the development of treatment and discharge plans. Provides family therapy with patients’ families upon physician’s orders. Serves as the Health Center liaison to the Probate Court in relation to involuntary patients. Provides in-house consultation and information in response to requests from the community.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Graduate from an accredited graduate school of social work, psychology or counseling.

Required length of experience:
Two (2) years’ work experience in providing mental health services strongly preferred.
Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology, diagnostic criteria, community resources and managed care organizations all essential to success in this role.

Required licensure, certification, and/or registry:
Current license by the state of Ohio as an LSW or LPC required.
