PATIENT CARE ASSIST III

Position summary:  Assists with and provides patient care under the direction of a professional registered nurse. Responsible for providing or assisting with transporting, maintaining a safe and clean environment, monitoring equipment function and responsible for documenting on appropriate forms. Performs technical skills as trained, such as invasive procedures (i.e., Foley insertion/removal, blood glucose monitoring) and non-invasive procedures (i.e., EKGs, SCD application, ted hose, simple non-sterile dressing changes and wound dressings). The Nurse Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to age groups according to specific chronological age, developmental age and/or psycho-social maturity. Job duties will expand as skills are learned and competencies documented by nursing school instructors and Clinical Manager or designee. Nurse Technician's will also be provided scheduled time to shadow and observe a nurse during a shift as a learning experience.

Education:  Enrolled in an accredited BSN or ADN nursing program and has completed one clinical rotation. Must provide a letter of recommendation from his or her clinical instructor and a copy of his or her most recent transcript

Required length and type of experience: Documentation of completion of first year of nursing school and one clinical rotation.  Documentation of technical skills to include the didactic and lab components of the nursing program.

Required licensure, certification or registry:  Must maintain certification in CPR and be able to provide basic life support.
