ADVANCE PRACTICE PROVIDERS – SOUTHWEST GENERAL MEDICAL GROUP (SGMG)

Southwest General Medical Group’s Center for Bariatric Surgery practice specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of obesity. Our experienced team is skilled in surgical weight-loss techniques, including gastric bypass and gastric sleeve, as well as non-surgical options for weight loss.

HOURS:
Full-time, Monday- Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00PM flex

POSITION SUMMARY:

The advanced practitioner will work as part of a team with Bariatric surgeons, PAs, Rds, psychologists, and internists. The Advanced Practitioner will primarily be responsible for pre-surgical medical weight loss patients. He/She will assist in post-surgical follow-up of the Bariatric/General surgery patient both in the hospital and the office. If a patient decides to choose an Advanced Practitioner as their primary care provider, the Advanced Practitioner will continue to perform physical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments as deemed necessary. He/She will also be part of the call schedule. 

 

The Advanced Practice Provider is a licensed professional who will function independently but provides care under the supervision of the Medical Director. They will plan, implement and evaluate treatment in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders, as applicable. They will act as a liaison between the physician, patient, and family, and collaborates with other health care professionals as appropriate. Performs inpatient rounding on patients with no outpatient appointments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Nurse Practitioner: State of Ohio graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Physician Assistant:  Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program. Master degree preferred, or eligibility for prescriptive authority under Ohio law.  

Required length and type of experience:

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a physician office or hospital setting (experience in clinic setting a plus); Clinical skills required will be dictated by scope of services offered.

Must have strong organizational skills and communication skills, with the general public, in person and on the telephone.

Experience in the specialty area indicated preferred.

Required licensure, certification or registry:

Nurse Practitioner: Current licensure by the Ohio State Board of Nursing

Physician Assistant: Current PA licensure by the State Medical Board of Ohio
