  • POSITION INFORMATION

    • Position summary:

      • The Nurse Practitioner provides care to specific populations of patients. They diagnose and manage acute and chronic health problems. In addition to traditional RN skills, they perform comprehensive physical examinations, order and interpret diagnosis tests, obtain specialty consults, and perform and prescribe therapeutic measures, including most classes of medications. They incorporate health promotion and disease prevention, as well as patient and family education, into their practice. They are independent providers who are individually accountable for their practice and decisions, and collaborate closely with physicians through a formal standard care agreement. The Nurse Practitioner focuses appropriately on the assigned patient population..

      • The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed professional who functions independently, but provides care in collaboration with the Medical Director. They plan, implement, and evaluate treatment in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders, as applicable. They act as a liaison between the physician, patient and family, and other health care professionals, as appropriate. They may assist in the orientation of new employees, and participate in hospital or department education offerings, committees, and regulatory activities. They must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to appropriate age groups, according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.

      • Some typical duties will include: performing history and physicals, patient triage, interpreting diagnostic testing, developing a plan of care, coordinating with other departments/services, writing orders, medication management, and blood product management.

      • Base hours exceed other patient care area expectations, and include 24/7 hour coverage of an advanced critical care services role to provide advanced care to patients with complex, acute, critical, and chronic health conditions.

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education:

      • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Ohio. National certification as Nurse Practitioner required. Master’s Degree required.


    • Required length and type of experience:

      • Minimum of three (3) years of specialty clinical experience. Demonstrated competency and the ability to perform advanced assessment and diagnosis.


    • Required licensure, certification or registry:

      • Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Ohio. National certification as Nurse Practitioner required.

      • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required based upon work setting.
