Pharmacy Intern

Position summary: The Pharmacy Intern position is designed to develop knowledge base and competency in the profession of Pharmacy.  Working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, the Pharmacy Intern is responsible for the preparation, delivery, and retrieval of patient’s medications used throughout the institution. He/she may also complete admission medication history, answer drug information questions and participate in educational experiences and scholarship.

Education: Attending an accredited college of pharmacy for a Doctor of Pharmacy degree

Required licensure, certification or registry: Licensed Pharmacy Intern in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Below are the duties and responsibilities for this position.

• Restocks RxStation MedStations accurately.
• Pulls medications for stocking accurately.
• Labels medication correctly, including all safety labels.
• Has new orders ready for delivery promptly, including medications needed in RxStations.
• Uses aseptic technique to compound sterile products.
• Completes monthly touchplates and annual transfer test as assigned
• Enters charges and credits into the computer system accurately.
• Performs checks on express carts.
• Respond to TempTrak alarms, takes appropriate action, and document actions taken.
• Answers drug information questions appropriately.
