TELECOMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR

HOURS:
Half-time, benefit eligible day shifts. 7:00AM-3:00PM with rotating weekends. 40 hours/5 shifts BIWEEKLY. May pick up extra shifts. 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator, incumbent is responsible for answering and processing telephone calls to the Health Center. Incumbent initiates established notification procedures to alert Health Center personnel, building tenants, emergency medical teams, police and fire department as required. Incumbent monitors 911 calls from the Hospital; medical emergency alarms for malfunction or critical status, and weather stations in order to provide notifications of severe weather. Department also acts as a physician answering service and incumbent processes calls forwarded from physician offices and accurately executes on-call physician notifications as prescribed.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Associates degree preferred.  

Required length of experience:
Two (2) years of experience as telephone operator or switchboard attendant using a computer-based call management system strongly preferred.
Accurate PC and typing skills essential to success in this role.
Familiarity with hospital operations or medical environment preferred.
