Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
The NPD Specialist develops tools, theories, skills and knowledge of NPD to improve the practice of staff. The NPD specialist is accountable for generalist competencies as well as specialist competencies. The Scope and Standards of Nursing Professional Development Practice describe key roles and responsibilities for which the NPD Practitioner is accountable. Overall outputs of NPD Specialist practices are learning, change, professional role competence and growth, which ultimately lead to optimal patient care and outcomes, population health, and quality and safety practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, MSN required.
Required Length and Type of Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in specialty area, teaching experience preferred
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry:
- Nurse Professional Development certification preferred or obtained within 1 year. Current license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing. CPR certification required. ACLS preferred.
- If Critical Care NPD Specialist: ACLS required
- If Emergency Services NPD Specialist: ACLS required; PALS required; TNCC required; TNCC Instructor preferred or willing to obtain within 2 years.
